The Little Zim lure.

Sherry Lynne:

“Hello Bob,  I am sorry for such a long break in updates to you. Yes for us here the time is running out fast for good fishing. The weather has been so nasty for us this fall. Mostly it's the winds that has kept the lake stirred up and the fishing to a minimum. I did end the season though by earning a title of Rookie of the Year for JackFish Lures out in Alberta in a field team competition, I also was fortunate enough to set all new records for the womens team and as well several records for the mens team. But then they don't have bass out in Alberta and I did catch some awesome bass this season. Now for the Little Zim and an overview.

The Little Zim is definately a great lure for bass both smallmouth and largemouth. It also can be called a multi-species lure because I caught Crappie, Silver Bass, Perch and even a real aggressive catfish fell for it.

I fished the Little Zim in all water conditions from crystal clear to real dirty water and still caught fish. I fished it in bright sunlight and very overcast days and still caught fish. I fished the lure in open water of Lake St Clair and in the river channels feeding into the lake and also at the mouth of the Detroit River. In all these areas and conditions I always caught fish.

The Little Zim is a quality well made lure, I believe the secret to this lures success is the feathered treble hook. I would have thought that white would have been the right color to use..but the yellow feathers seemed to do the trick and with the ability to trim the feathers you can experiment with what works as far as trimming it down or leaving them alone. I personally like the 1/2 oz weight with the silver blades and the red painted body it was deadly on Lake St Clair.

I rate the Little Zim very high and would recommend it for another weapon in an anglers tackle pack. To try and compare it to other lures on the market is difficult because the Little Zim stands alone in its own category and rights. As a field tester for the fishing industry I can say You did Good with this one Bob!

                       Faithfully in your service”

Vince Biechner:

I have lived and fished most of the United States from Alaska to Florida. I spend my summers in Kentucky and Pennsylvania and my winters in Florida. I especially enjoy fishing with Ultra-Ultra Light fishing equipment for Brim and Bass and until the Little Zim I fished with live bait. This is the best artificial bait I have ever encountered. Bob gave me a Little Zim to try and I couldn’t believe it when I started throwing this little lure. The Blue Gill loved it and only the larger fish were able to get the hooks in their mouth. Almost every fish I caught was a keeper. I get great results with the Little Zim wherever I fish with it and anytime of the year. I still fish with live bait but I enjoy the action I also get with the Little Zim.

I have lived and fished on Kentucky Lake all of my life. I have fished every way and with everything there is. I have known Bob Zimmer since 1995 but I saw him around the lake for years before then and he always seemed to be cleaning fish even when other fishermen were complaining about poor fishing conditions. A couple of years ago I walked up to Bob at the fish cleaning station to see what he caught and he started telling me about this lure he started making recently because he couldn’t buy them anymore. Bob gave me two of them and asked me to give them a try. I fish year round now with this bait and it really catches fish. I catch Perch, Bluegill, and White Bass all year long including winter. This is the best artificial bait I have ever fished with and I have tried them all.

Sherry Lynne:

Just wanted you to know whats happening..well went after those silver bass and couldn't keep the smallmouth and largemouth off the smaller Little Zim (silver blades). Larger ones having some problems with paint coming off..so am in process of applying some nail polish with hardner..Dang river rocks are hard on em! Since bass right now is not in season..soon as it does will get some photos out to you.

Also found trimming the feathers down helps a lot. More hookups!

Also my fiance' used and lost two of the larger ones to some toothy critters was not prepared for the pike to slam them so no steel leader! Next time he says he is gonna be ready for them!
