The “Little Zim”

Some years ago my Dad talked about this lure he was having all this walleye success with and upon my next trip to Canada with him I was exposed to this little hand painted spinner that looked like no other (exactly) that I had ever seen. Sure enough this thing caught fish and I became a believer. We had enormous success with walleye all over Canada. I ended up with four in my box and I was very careful not to lose them.

I looked everywhere and ordered every spinner bait that looked similar but could never find exactly the same thing. Other spinner baits caught some fish but none were as successful as the ones we had.

I finally decided that I would have to make them if I was ever going to get anymore. I was down to three and my Dad lost his last one while fishing with me. Mine were about worn out from repeated use. I started researching the parts and finally I sourced each part necessary to make these little lures. I have to hand paint each part that requires a finish and I hand tie the feathers on the treble hooks. This was the only way I could get anymore. I improved on the original lure by buying only the highest quality parts and as a result the lures that I have made over the past two years have been more successful than any of the original we had.

I catch every specie of fish in Kentucky lake with what I now call the “Little Zim”. I catch white bass, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, Kentucky bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish and sauger. I have never caught any pike species with one.

You can cast with a spinning rod or troll with a straight line or you can take the hooks off a deep diving crank bait and put an 18 inch leader line where the front hooks were and troll in the hot summer on the edge of sandbars. If there are fish down there, you will catch them.

There are a lot of fishing lures for sale that catch fishermen but the “Little Zim” catches fish.
